Lac de Derborence is a stunning lake nestled in the Lizerne valley of Valais, Switzerland. It was formed centuries ago by two massive landslides, which created a mystical and enchanting landscape. The area is now a nature reserve, attracting geologists, botanists, and nature lovers who are captivated by its pristine beauty. The journey to Derborence is an adventure in itself, with winding mountain roads and breathtaking tunnels that add to the excitement. Whether you're a fan of outdoor activities or simply want to immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature, Lac de Derborence is a must-visit destination.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Take the train to sion and from there catch the bus towards Derborence. ( he bus ride is absolutely crazy, it is going up on a winding road with lots of tunnels and drop off. very exhilarating)

You can hike around the lake ( takes 30 - 40 minutes) have a picnic and enjoy the quiet and slow nature here. Super beautiful.

Facts: Back in the times before the landslides the mountains called Rochers and Scex de Champ and people believed the landslide was a work of the devils. That's why the mountains were renamed to Diablerets which means Devil Mountains. For a long time the lake was considered cursed, now it is a beautiful hiking destination for nature lovers. Serene, quiet and beautiful. Worth to visit.
