Cloch Lighthouse, located on Cloch Point in Scotland, has been warning ships away from The Gantocks since 1797. Designed by Thomas Smith and Robert Stevenson, the lighthouse stands at 76 feet tall and features a distinctive white tower with a black band. Originally lit with oil, it was later upgraded to an argand lamp and then acetylene. Today, the light is automated and unmanned, with the main light replaced by one on a pole outside the lantern room. The keepers used to wind the mechanism by hand every few hours, but now it's all high-tech and hands-free.
