Chiesa di Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza is a stunning example of 17th-century baroque architecture. Located on the Corso del Rinascimento in Rome, this majestic church was designed by the architect Francesco Borromini and built between 1642 to 1660. Its attractive dome features a mysterious spiral shape known as the “corkscrew lantern” that has become an iconic symbol of Italian architecture. Inside, visitors are treated to an impressive view of the rotunda, which consists of nine distinct sections united through harmonious curves and edges. Additionally, the main altar is decorated with a beautiful canvas painting by Pietro da Cortona and Giovanni Ventura Borghesi. Finally, tourists can explore two hexagonal rooms late in the rear of the church filled with charming windows overlooking the city. Without a doubt, Chiesa di Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza is truly a remarkable destination worth visiting.
