Bagnone is a picturesque Tuscan mountain village perched in the Apennines and home to a historic castle and watchtower. The village still retains its medieval appearance. A gorge with little waterfalls and a medieval bridge span the Bagnone Stream. Bring your camera.

First named in a document of the year 963, Bagnone owes its name to this stream and the original core of the town that guarded the Via Francigena, a pilgrimage route that went from Canterbury to Rome.

A weekly market can be enjoyed in the antique mercato building on Mondays, plus there are plenty of shops, cafes and an increasing number of restaurants.

Bagnone is home to the Archive and Museum of Memory. The gallery was founded in late 2005/early 2006 with the aim of documenting the history of the area. There are thematic routes you might take from the borgo of Bagnone.

Nearby Treschietto is known for the fantastic onions that are often combined with ricotta and turned into a savory pie called barbotta. It's one of our favorites.
