Katla Ice Cave is one of the few ice caves in Iceland that can be visited year-round, formed by the glaciers around Katla volcano. The cave constantly changes due to melting and movement, so no two visits look exactly the same.
Visiting the Katla Ice Cave requires a guided tour for safety reasons. Most tours meet in Vík, and the exact meeting point will be listed on the website of the tour operator you choose. From there, you’ll travel by super jeep to reach the glacier before walking into the cave with a guide.
We'd highly recommend going with Arctic Adventures!
*The location pinned here is near the general entrance area of the cave, but access points can shift depending on conditions, which is why booking through a licensed operator is required!!
