Praia da Ursa ("Ursa beach") is continental Europe's westernmost beach, located right next to Cabo da Roca ("Cape Roca") in Sintra, Portugal. Its very well preserved nature and unique beauty are directly related to its rocks and cliffs. Praia da Ursa was once considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. Access is difficult to say the least! But is certainly worth the effort. This is a well preserved wild beach destination less than one hour away from Lisbon. Beware that naturism is very common here!

To reach this magnificent beach, there are multiple dirt "off-road" tracks that lead visitors to the sand strip. Talking about the main route, you must go through an approximately 1.3 km twisting and steep path to get to your destination. Some people get there in just 20 minutes; some people might take up to an hour. The first 900 meters can be covered by a very soft hike, while the last 400 meters are the most challenging part as visitors need to climb down the cliffs. Forget about rainy days here!
