Local insight on the Alhambra

Crucial things to keep in mind

Welcome to my office! The Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain, receiving over 7000 visitors daily. The protocols are strict, so please, don't forget to bring the passport with you (I mean the actual passport, a picture is not enough). I also recommend comfortable shoes and the use of sunscreen and hats in summer, as half of the tour takes place outdoors.

Please, note that being such a popular monument, you will need to get your tickets way in advance. My recommendation is 2 months at least. You can get the tickets on this website:

If you are travelling with babies and using a stroller, know that there will be areas where you will have to leave it and carry your baby for a while. In case you want to do a lighter tour for the little ones, you can always skip the Alcazaba section, but we do recommend that you don't miss Generalife gardens (there's a maze of trees, flowers, and dragonflies or frogs in the ponds, so children will like it), and of course, the nasrid palaces (the crown jewel) .

IMPORTANT: the nasrid palaces have a specific time to enter, that you can choose when purchasing the tickets. I recommend that you go to the Alhambra's enclosure a couple hours before that time, and go to the Generalife and common areas first, heading to the palaces when that time approaches.

Ideally, you can book a private tour with me and I will take care of all these logistics! ;)
