The Basilica di Sant'Andrea is an exquisite example of Renaissance architecture located in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy. The beautiful 15th-century building was designed by Leonardo Battista Alberti and its construction was completed in 1790, taking an incredible 328 years to finish. Influenced by the Arch of Trajan at Ancona, the basilica's façade features a large central arch flanked by Corinthian pilasters as well as smaller openings on either side of the structure. Inside, you can find Alberti's unique arrangement of low arches alternating with tall unfluted pilasters alongside multiples chapels branching off from the nave for a one-of-a kind viewing experience. Additionally, the dome surrounding the crypt below provides an awe-inspiring site for visitors to behold in wonder.
