Miracle in Rome alley

消息来自 Francesco Meola

Passetto del Biscione is a hidden alley in Rome, near the location of where Rome's first theater stood. It is believed to be named after the Orsini family's eel crest and it was the site of a miracle. In 1796, people from all over the city flocked to this alley to witness the image of the Madonna appear to move its eyes. This miraculous sight inspired the phrase "to look for Mary around Rome" to show something that difficult to find yet close by. The alley was restored with beautiful frescoes and a copy of the painting of the Madonna still draws curious visitors. An experience not to be missed when visiting Rome!
