A large Shinto shrine located in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, built in 1890 to honor Japan’s first emperor, Emperor Jimmu. Surrounded by forest and peaceful gardens, the shrine grounds are spacious and serene, making it a calm retreat from city life. Especially popular during New Year’s and seasonal festivals.

Entry fee: Free.

Touristy?: Moderately touristy. Visited mostly by locals and history enthusiasts, less crowded than major shrines.
