Dalanzadgad is home to the only airport receiving domestic flights for travelers who want to explore the Gobi Desert. There are only a few flights a week on MIAT and Hunnu Air, so be sure to book early if you prefer to cut 10 hours off your drive time from Ulaanbaatar.

This large, industrial town is great for grocery shopping or even staying overnight before entering the vastness of the Gobi. Be sure to stock up here on petrol and all the supplies you'll need for your upcoming adventure. After this, options are sparse.
