Just a short drive from Fjallsárlón lies Diamond Beach, a striking black sand shoreline where chunks of glacial ice from the nearby Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon wash ashore, glittering like scattered diamonds. The contrast of crystal-clear ice against the volcanic black sand creates a surreal, almost magical scene.

In summer, the long daylight hours make it possible to explore at a relaxed pace. Walking along the beach, we were amazed by the variety of ice shapes — some smooth and clear, others jagged and frosted — each one unique. The sound of gentle waves lapping against the ice added a calming soundtrack to the visual spectacle.

Diamond Beach is also a great spot for photography, as the sun’s angle casts sparkling reflections across the ice, making it glow against the dark sand. Occasionally, we even spotted seals bobbing near the lagoon’s mouth, adding life to the icy landscape. It’s a perfect, tranquil finale to a day filled with glaciers, waterfalls, and Iceland’s wild natural beauty.
