What to order:

Order the phở bò tái lăn. This is Phở Thìn’s famous stir-fried beef pho. The broth is intensely aromatic and loaded with coriander and spring onions. If you love fresh, green, herby flavours, this one really delivers.

Why it’s here:

This was our first proper Hanoi pho experience and honestly, nothing else quite beat it. The soup feels deeply comforting and wholesome, and the mountain of herbs on top makes it super aromatic. It’s been served the same way since 1979 and the place is always busy with locals, which tells you everything you need to know.

Tip:

This pho is richer and more herb-forward than what most people expect, so don’t judge it against southern-style pho. Eat it as it comes, then add chilli or vinegar slowly if you want – but from our experience, you don’t need to. Go early if you can as it gets packed quickly, especially around breakfast and lunch.
