The Tanks was the first rockpool we visited that kicked off my love for rockpool hunting. I didn't realise how cool rockpools could be until we found this one at the very start of our journey! It also happened to be my first birthday on the road, so it made it extra special!

The Tanks is an iconic natural rock formation and swimming hole along the coastline of Forster, a vibrant coastal town on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

The name originates from large steel water tanks erected in the 1890s to service steam locomotives during the construction of Forster's breakwater.

It's a free spot where waves crash dramatically over the rocks at high tide (forming mini waterfalls) and expose safe, shallow pools at low tide.
