The hike up Volandstind is a fantastic way to experience the stunning nature of the Lofoten Islands. Although the summit stands at just 457 m, it rewards you with breathtaking views of turquoise fjords, white sandy beaches, and the surrounding mountain landscapes. The trail offers a great mix of varied paths, light scrambling and spectacular panoramas throughout the hike.

Starting point: About 4.5 km south of Ramberg, there is a free parking lot on the left side of the E10, located near a small pond. This is the starting point of the hike, the coordinates for Google Maps are 68.0680414, 13.1980965

Route: The hike begins by following a stream and then climbs steeply uphill before circling a small lake. The path to the saddle can be a bit boggy, but with waterproof shoes, it's easily manageable. Once at the saddle, you're greeted with fantastic views of the Skjelfjorden and the Stjerntinden mountain. After crossing a boulder field, where you have to find your own way over the rocks, you’ll reach the ridge of Volandstind. To enjoy the impressive view of Fredvang Bay, you'll ascend the third and most challenging peak, which requires sure-footedness and a good head for heights. The reward is an incredible panorama of turquoise waters and surrounding mountains.

Difficulty according to Norwegian standards: Blue = medium; suitable for moderately fit hikers with basic hiking knowledge and some experience in the terrain.

Distance: ≈ 6 km round trip
Elevation gain: ≈ 500 meters up & down
Duration: ≈ 3.5 hours
