Shotover Jet is the most famous boat ride in New Zealand and one of the most memorable activities in Queenstown.

Their jet boats fly through kilometres of narrow canyons, skim past rock walls at up to 85km/h and spin in wild 360° that will make your heart race.

There are cheaper and longer jet boat rides in New Zealand, but none are as fast (or iconic) as Shotover Jet. Plus, their tour guides will tell you a little about the history of the area, and they are the only company allowed down this part of the river, which means you’ll have a one-of-a-kind experience!

How to get there

The ride leaves from Arthur’s Point, roughly a 10-minute drive from Queenstown. If you’re travelling without a car, they offer a free shuttle, but you’ll need to book it in advance when you're making your reservation. The experience lasts about 25 minutes, but you’ll want to set aside 1-1.5 hours for check-in, etc.

Tickets are usually around $159 NZD for adults and $89 NZD for kids, but it’s worth checking for deals on Get Your Guide, etc.
