The Giant L&P Bottle is a 7m statue of a fizzy drink (soft drink) bottle in Paeroa on the North Island of New Zealand. The statue was originally built in 1967 as a replica of a space rocket and has since become a beloved landmark.
L&P, also known as Lemon & Paeroa, is a lemony fizzy drink that was first created by blending lemon and Paeroa's magnesium-rich spring water, which gave it its name and iconic taste. The drink became so popular that it received the slogan, "World famous in New Zealand," which sounds quirky but is, in fact, a famous saying that’s become part of Kiwi culture.
I recommend visiting a local dairy (corner shop) on your travels and picking up a can of the iconic drink. Although its taste is not for everyone, it is a must-try on your visit to New Zealand!
