Waiau Falls is a small but beautiful waterfall in the Coromandel. It’s super easy to visit, and although it’s popular and well-known, it feels like you’ve stepped into a secret paradise.
The entrance to the falls is off 309 Road. There’s free parking at the trailhead, and from there, it’s an easy two-minute walk through native bush to the falls and a very popular swimming hole.
Before heading down the track, please take a second to use the DOC shoe wash stations, which help protect our beautiful native trees from Kauri dieback disease.
If you have time to spare, I recommend continuing down 309 Road to Waiau Kauri Grove, where you can walk among the beautiful giant trees.
