Aldeyjarfoss is a stunning waterfall in Iceland's northern highlands, known for its picturesque blue lagoon and unique hexagonal basalt columns. These columns were formed by lava cooling and contracting during an ancient eruption, creating a mesmerizing natural display.

Location: Aldeyjarfoss is situated in the northern region of Iceland, specifically in the Bárðardalur valley, which is part of the highlands. It is located northeast of Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull.

Accessibility: To travel from Godafoss to Aldeyjarfoss, take Route 844 south for roughly 45 minutes through Bárðardalur valley. The road is unpaved but accessible to non-4×4 vehicles. Around 6 km before reaching Aldeyjarfoss, Route 844 is changing to F-26, and a 4×4 vehicle is required to proceed. Once parked, it's a quick 10-minute downhill hike from the parking area to reach the viewpoint overlooking Aldeyjarfoss.
