Rauðisandur is a unique beach in the Westfjords of Iceland known for its red and golden sands, a rare sight in a country mostly known for black beaches.

It's a great spot for birdwatching, with millions of seabirds nesting on the nearby cliffs, and you might even catch a glimpse of seals or whales.

Location: Rauðisandur is situated on the southern coast of the Westfjords peninsula in Iceland, near the towns of Patreksfjörður and Bíldudalur.

Accessibility: To reach Rauðisandur, visitors typically drive on Route 614 from either Patreksfjörður or Bíldudalur. The road to Rauðisandur is unpaved but generally passable in good weather conditions. It's advisable to have a 4x4 vehicle, especially if planning to explore further along the coastline.

Facilities: Facilities at Rauðisandur are limited. There are parking areas and basic amenities such as picnic tables.

Best Time to Visit: Rauðisandur can be visited year-round, but the best time is during the summer months (June to August) when the weather is milder, and daylight hours are longer.
