The Eagle Creek Trailhead and Trail (#440) is a scenic hike in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area that offers breathtaking views of Eagle Creek Navajo Slot Canyon. Hikers can traverse 150 feet above the creek through High Bridge, a narrow gorge, while spotting multiple waterfalls like Punch Bowl Falls and Tunnel Falls along their route. A permit is needed from the wilderness boundary which is located around mile 5 to continue on this popular alternative route to the Pacific Crest Trail. Visitors should be aware of hand rails on parts of the trail as it can be dangerous when slippery. Pets must be kept on leashes to ensure their safety from the steep cliffs, and fire restrictions are in place June 1 - Sept 15. With its ethereal fog and great perspective from the cliffs, this trail makes for a wonderful day trip or backpacking opportunity.
