One of the first questions people ask when moving or travelling to Bali is: “Where should I stay?” The answer isn’t about price or convenience - it’s about vibe.

1. Canggu - for the social & content-focused

  • Busy, trendy, and full of cafés, gyms, and Instagrammable spots

  • Tons of digital nomads, influencers, and expats

  • Great if you want nightlife, events, and social energy

  • Downsides: traffic, sometimes crowded, less “hidden paradise”

2. Uluwatu - for the chill, beachy, aesthetic life

  • Cliffside views, surf beaches, and beach clubs

  • More relaxed, luxurious vibe

  • Perfect for soft-life mornings, sunset drinks, and creative energy

  • Downsides: further from gyms, cafés, and convenience shops

3. Seminyak - for the party + shopping mix

  • Posh restaurants, boutiques, and nightlife

  • Convenient, central, and tourist-friendly

  • Good if you want easy access to everything without being too far from the airport

  • Downsides: can feel a little “touristy” and busy

4. Ubud - for the wellness & spiritual crowd

  • Surrounded by rice fields, yoga studios, and retreats

  • Perfect for slower vibes, wellness, and creativity

  • Downsides: far from beaches, nightlife, and the party scene

Pro tips for picking your area:

  • Decide what matters most: social life, beach access, soft-life aesthetic, or wellness

  • Don’t overcommit: book 2–3 weeks first, then move if you need a different vibe

  • Check Instagram reels or Google maps to see if the area matches the energy you want

  • Some people even split their time between two areas (Canggu for social + Uluwatu for chill)

Choosing the right area — or hopping between them — sets the tone for your entire Bali experience. I always recommend travelling the entire island!
