A small 18th-century onion-domed pilgrimage church on a hillside above Berchtesgaden, with the Watzmann massif rising directly behind it. One of the most photogenic churches in Bavaria. Free to enter, small and quiet inside. The classic photo angle is from the meadow path that climbs up behind the church — five minutes' walk. Several hiking trails depart from here, the most popular being the moderate 7.5km return to Kneifelspitze for panoramic Berchtesgaden views (3–4 hours). Tricky to reach by bus on weekends; easier by car or taxi from town. Free parking in front of the church, fills early in summer.
