Riuwaka Resurgence is a short, easy stop near the Abel Tasman/Riwaka area where the river emerges from a limestone cave into crystal-clear emerald pools. You reach it from a small car park off State Highway 60, then follow a flat 5–10 minute bush walk to viewing platforms and rocky entry points. The water is stunning but very cold, so it is best for photos. Facilities are limited and it can be busy in summer, and because the site is culturally and ecologically sensitive, stick to marked paths, don’t enter the resurgence cave, and pack out all rubbish.
