Thanh Khê District in Da Nang offers a vibrant mix of history, culture, and local life that Joen and I really enjoyed exploring. Dating back to the 19th century, this area was once a bustling trading port and military settlement, and you can still feel the influence of French colonial forces and Chinese immigrants in its architecture and customs.

What makes Thanh Khê special is the way it blends past and present. You’ve got colonial-style buildings standing next to traditional Vietnamese homes, and the vibe here is lively and authentic. One of our favorite experiences was exploring the vibrant local markets, where you can find everything from fresh produce to street food that reflects the district’s rich culinary heritage.

Another highlight for us was the old citadel, which offers a glimpse into the area’s historical significance. You’ll also find a unique blend of Vietnamese and Chinese customs throughout the district, which adds to the cultural richness. Thanh Khê feels less touristy compared to other parts of Da Nang, giving it a more local and intimate atmosphere.
