Ano Kapetaniana is a mountainous village of about 80 inhabitants, built on a steep location on the foothills of the Asterousia mountains, overlooking the Libyan Sea and the incredibly fertile plains of Messara.
As you drive up on the heights of Asterousia, you will definitely notice how arid and sharp are the mountain tops around you. Asterousia offers some of the hardest, but most spectacular drives if you happen to have a 4x4 car and you are into off-road driving.
For example, some of the places you can drive to, on steep rocky roads, are: Vourlidia beach, Ayios Ioannis small seafront village, Koudouma monastery, Tris Ekklisies village, Voidomato beach, St Nikita’s Palm Tree Forest and chapel.
