A little off the beaten path in Pienza sits Podere Il Casale, along the 10th century pilgrimage roads that once connected Rome and Jerusalem with the small towns in the Italian countryside. The centerpiece of the property is a 600-year-old stone farmhouse where the owners live, cook, and service the restaurant. The farm is completely organic and the restaurant features much of what is produced here, such as homemade pasta, honey, cheeses, wine, extra virgin olive oil, saffron, and white truffles. We recommend to visit for lunch to enjoy the best views of the Tuscan landscape. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations and the service was so attentive and warm! This restaurant definitely deserves a mention in the top 5 restaurants to eat in Val d’Orcia.
