The Highland Games are an important part of the heritage and culture in this area. Typically the games run from May through to early September.
Many small towns and villages have their own version of a games and if you are in the area in the summer months, I highly suggest visiting at least one!
A really authentic games I would recommend would be in Dufftown or Aberlour, here you will see and hear bagpipe bands, highland dancing, tossing of the caber (logs), sporting events and lots of people enjoying the beer tent.
If you want something a bit more prestigious, then check out the Braemar Games or known as the Braemar Gathering. These are the games that the Royal Family attend every year and it is quite the sight!
