Ben Nevis stands tall at 1,345 metres (4,413 ft) as the highest mountain of Scotland, the United Kingdom and the British Isles. It is located at the western end of the Grampian Mountains in the Highland region close to Fort William.

There are two main walking routes up Ben Nevis. The Mountain Track (otherwise known as the Tourist Track or the Pony Track) is used by most walkers and is a good beginner route. The Carn Mor Dearg Arête route is for more experienced hikers as it is a more challenging climb.

Or, you have the option of taking the Mountain Gondola along the north face of the Aonach Mor where you'll have amazing views the whole journey up to an elevation of 650m.

Visit Walk Highlands for detailed maps, difficulty levels and walking advice. As a general rule though, you'll need a fair amount of experience, fitness, and navigation skills, before attempting any of the mountains in Scotland. Please take extra care in the winter.
