This is one of those views you never forget. Tokyo Tower glowing in the middle of the cityscape, slowly lighting up as the sun sets behind you — it’s magic. The Tokyo City View observation deck at Roppongi Hills gives you this incredible perspective, especially during the golden hour when everything is bathed in soft, warm light.
Unfortunately, the rooftop Sky Deck (helipad) is currently closed, which is a bit of a shame — the open-air view from up there is unbeatable. But even from the 52nd floor indoor observatory, this scene is more than worth the visit.
Best time to photograph:
Arrive about 45–60 minutes before sunset. You’ll catch the golden light hitting the buildings, the city gradually lighting up, and the tower turning into a glowing beacon in the heart of Tokyo. Blue hour here is especially atmospheric — bring a lens that handles reflections well if you're shooting through glass.
