Perched high above Tiger’s Nest, Zangdok Pelri Temple feels like a quiet guardian watching over the entire valley. From this elevated position, the perspective changes completely — the monastery complex below suddenly feels small, while the surrounding forested mountains stretch endlessly into the distance. Mist often drifts through the cliffs, adding layers and depth that make the scene feel almost unreal. It’s a powerful place visually, whether you’re standing there in person or capturing it from afar.
If you’re lucky enough to have a drone permit, this area offers stunning aerial compositions with dramatic cliffs, temples, and cloud layers. But even without a drone, the hike up is absolutely worth it — the views alone make it one of the most underrated photo spots in the Paro region.

Morning. Soft light, rising mist, and calm air create the best atmosphere and the most dramatic layered mountain scenes.
