Mirador de los Cóndores is one of El Chaltén’s most accessible and rewarding hikes, offering panoramic views of the town, the surrounding Patagonian steppe, and the dramatic skyline of Mount Fitz Roy in the distance. The trail is short and moderately steep, making it a popular choice for visitors with limited time or those looking for a warm-up hike. True to its name, the viewpoint is also an excellent spot to watch Andean condors gliding effortlessly on the wind currents, adding a touch of wild majesty to the already breathtaking landscape. It’s especially beautiful at sunset, when the peaks glow in golden light.

  • Hiking time: ~1 to 1.5 hours round trip

  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate (short but with some incline)

  • Age limit: No strict age limit — suitable for families, though young children and elderly hikers should be prepared for a steady climb

  • Seasonality: Accessible year-round, but best from October to April (Patagonian summer) for milder weather and clearer views

  • Walking distance: ~3 km round trip

  • Elevation gain: ~120 meters

This hike is often combined with Mirador de las Águilas.
