Fushimi-Momoyama Castle is a castle located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. It was originally constructed from 1592 to 1594 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi as his retirement residence. The castle is renowned for its Golden Tea Room which was decorated with gold-leaf and acted as the backdrop for Toyotomi Hideyoshi's peace talks with Chinese diplomats. The castle was ultimately destroyed in 1596 due to an earthquake, rebuilt, and demolished in 1623. A replica of the castle now stands nearby and is used as a museum of the life and campaigns of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, along with other historical attractions. It is also known to be popular among those interested in Japanese history, as many of its rooms and buildings were incorporated into castles and temples throughout Japan.
