🚢 Ultimate Guide: How to Get from Bali to Java (Banyuwangi)
Bali and Java are separated by a short ferry ride across the Bali Strait. The most common route is from Gilimanuk Harbour in Bali to Ketapang Harbour in Banyuwangi, East Java.
Price: ~60,000 IDR
Duration: ~4–5 hours (depending on traffic)
How it works:
Go to Ubung Terminal in Denpasar.
Take a bus headed for Gilimanuk (the ferry port).
The bus will stop just outside the harbour area where ferry tickets are sold.
Tip: Bring your passport, as it’s required to buy the ferry ticket.
Price: ~940,000 IDR
Duration: ~3.5 hours
How it works:
Book a Grab, taxi, or private driver directly to Gilimanuk Harbour.
More comfortable, but much more expensive.
There are two ways to get a ticket from Gilimanuk (Bali) to Ketapang (Java):

Price: ~18,000 IDR
What you need: Passport or ID card.
Advantages:
No need to pre-book.
No complicated online registration or payment issues.
Flexible - you can just show up and take the next boat.
Downside:
Slightly more expensive than the official online price.
Price (at the harbour): ~9k–18k IDR
Schedule: Ferries run every hour
Crossing time: ~1 hour.
Arrival port: Ketapang Harbour, Banyuwangi, East Java.
