budget friendly guide how to get from Bali to Lombok
Easiest way: Grab or Gojek from your location in Bali.
Duration from Canggu/Kuta: ~1.5–2.5 hours depending on traffic.
Tip: Leave early in the morning to avoid ferry delays and get a seat.
⚠ No official online ticket for the public ferry — buy on-site only.
Avoid Scams:
On the way to the ticket office, some people may try to sell you “fast boat” tickets instead.
Firmly tell them you already have a ticket and keep walking.
Ignore anyone who insists they are “official” but directs you somewhere else.
Actual Process:
The official ferry ticket window is no longer active - instead, tickets are sold next door at a red brick building marked 3DARA.
Tickets cost 75K IDR per person (cash).
You will need to show your passport; the seller enters your details into the system and prints a small receipt.
Take this receipt across the street to the blue building (entrance marked with a red arrow on signs or walls).
Inside, do not go to the left counter - go straight ahead to the woman behind the glass window.
Hand over your small receipt; she will scan it and give you a larger receipt - this is your actual boarding pass.
From the blue building, walk right through the hallway, then follow the yellow railing towards the ferry.
A ticket checker will keep part of your boarding pass before you enter.
Find a seat on the ferry - indoor seats fill up fast, so arriving early is better.
Scheduled departures include 06:30, 09:00, and 11:30 but delays are common. Just wait for the next ferry... :)
Duration: ~5 hours crossing to Lembar Port, Lombok.
At Lembar Port, you can't take Grab/Gojek! Only local taxis, or arrange a private driver to your next destination (e.g., Kuta, Senggigi, Mataram).
We rented a scooter right there for 70k IDR per Day: +62 878-4560-6232
💡 Extra Tips:
Bring snacks and water - onboard options are limited.
Windows seats are really nice!
