What to expect:
Mua Caves (Hang Mua) offers one of the most rewarding viewpoints in Ninh Binh - but it’s not an easy stroll. The climb involves around 500–600 steep steps, so take it slow, especially if you’re visiting with kids. It’s not suitable for small children, and during busy hours it can feel crowded and a bit unsafe.
Once you reach the top, the effort is absolutely worth it. The views are stunning, with dramatic limestone peaks and sweeping landscapes below. The scenery is especially magical in May–June, when the Tam Coc rice fields turn golden and look like a soft silk carpet from above.
How to get here:
Best time to visit: early morning. Sunrise from the top is breathtaking, temperatures are cooler, and you’ll avoid the heavy crowds that build up during the day.
Time needed: about 1–2 hours at a relaxed pace.
Entrance fee: around 100k VND per person (kids free).
Tip:
If arriving by motorbike, ignore people trying to wave you into unofficial parking. Drive all the way to the official Múa Cave entrance - official parking costs about 5,000 VND.
If cycling, be careful with GPS navigation. It can be unreliable around the rice fields and may lead you onto wrong paths. Offline maps or road signs work better.
