Uzna Omom is the kind of café you would probably walk past without realizing it is there. Hidden inside a building near Harajuku’s Cat Street, it feels more like entering a small apartment than a famous Tokyo pancake café.
This is where I would go when I want Japanese fluffy pancakes without spending a long time waiting outside one of the viral tourist spots. The café is still much less known among international visitors, and although there are only a few tables, it usually feels calm, cosy and personal.
The pancakes are soft, fluffy and genuinely delicious, with very reasonable prices for Tokyo. I would personally choose this place over some of the more heavily promoted pancake cafés, including Butter near Tokyo Station. Their drinks are also worth ordering, so do not come only for the pancakes.
Uzna Omom serves several types of pancakes, including sweet, savoury, vegan and gluten-free options, with seasonal fruit and carefully selected ingredients.
