Around Madeira

Standing tall on the wild western tip of Madeira, the Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse marks the edge of the island – and it feels like it. Perched on dramatic cliffs nearly 300 metres above the ocean, it offers some of the most expansive views on the island. You won’t find much in the way of crowds, but you will find wind in your hair, sea spray in the distance, and a real sense of space.

The lighthouse itself dates back to 1922 and still functions today. There’s a small museum inside (usually open on weekdays), but the real draw is the view. Come at sunset for golden skies and that “wow, we’re really at the end of the world” feeling.
