Calheta Sand Beach is a picturesque and popular bathing resort located in the town of Calheta on the west coast of Madeira Island. It’s notable for being Madeira’s first artificial beach, inaugurated in 2004, featuring golden sand imported from Morocco. The beach is 100 metres long and has a sunbathing area of about 7300 m².

Protected by two breakwaters on a slope, it offers a safe and comfortable bathing experience with amenities like sun loungers, parasols, a bar area, changing rooms, and first-aid facilities.
