Pico do Facho offers one of the most expansive viewpoints on Madeira’s eastern side, with sweeping views over Machico, Caniçal, the airport runway, and the rugged coastline leading towards Ponta de São Lourenço. On clear days, you can even spot Porto Santo in the distance.

Once used for signal fires warning of pirate ships, this historic hilltop now serves as a peaceful viewpoint accessible by car, or as part of a scenic walk. It’s often quiet, making it a great place to pause and take in the vastness of Madeira’s landscape without the crowds.

🚌 To get to Pico do Facho by bus, you can take the bus number 113 from Funchal to Machico, and ask the driver to stop at the turnoff to Pico do Facho. The bus ride takes about 50 minutes. From there, you can walk up to the viewpoint, which is about 1.5 km away.
