Pico dos Barcelos is one of Funchal’s classic viewpoints – and with good reason. From up here, you get a full sweep of the city below: terracotta rooftops, the curve of the bay, cruise ships docked in the harbour, and on clear days, even the Desertas Islands in the distance.

It’s easy to access by car or bus, with a tidy landscaped area, benches, and a café nearby if you fancy a coffee with a view. A great quick stop for photos, especially at sunset when the city starts to glow. Local tip? This is one of the best spots to understand just how massive Funchal actually is.
