Vereda do Larano is one of our top three favourite hikes in Madeira, offering raw coastal scenery and a sense of adventure. This trail runs along narrow hillside paths, revealing rugged cliffs cliffs and endless Atlantic views. It's perfect for those seeking both thrill and tranquillity. A highlight of the route is Miradouro do Larano, where the sweeping coastline panorama will leave you in awe. š“š¶āāļø
Starting Point
The trail begins in the picturesque village of Machico, which is easily accessible by bus or car. We recommend starting here, as the route ends in Porto da Cruz with a steep incline that is much easier to descend than climb! This direction also allows you to enjoy a more gradual ascent through the trailās scenic coastal paths.
