Around Madeira

Tucked away on Madeira’s southern coast near Campanário, Calhau da Lapa was once one of the island’s most peaceful hidden gems—famous for its crystal-clear waters, craggy cliffs, and caves carved into the volcanic rock. However, the official hiking path leading down to the beach has been closed since 2022 due to the risk of falling rocks and unstable cliffs.

The good news? You can still experience this magical place safely by taking a boat from Ribeira Brava marina, which offers a scenic and comfortable ride directly to the shore. It’s the best way to enjoy Calhau da Lapa’s beauty without taking unnecessary risk
