You’ll find the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a hybrid outdoor zoo, botanical garden and natural history museum that showcases desert plants and animals in natural settings, so plan for sun and walking. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and sturdy shoes, arrive early to beat the heat and see more active animals, and set aside 2 to 3 hours to catch highlights like the raptor flight, hummingbird aviary and reptile building. There is on-site parking, a cafe and a gift shop, pets are not allowed, and admission is charged, so check the museum website the day you go for program times or temporary closures; most paths are accessible but some trails are uneven.
