How to get here- This is an easily accessible town on the southwest coast of Issyk Kul Lake. Either take a mashrukta or self drive to reach Bokonbayevo.

What to do here- Bokonbayevo is best known as a cultural hub for eagle hunting traditions. It’s one of the few places in Kyrgyzstan where you can experience this ancient nomadic practice firsthand.

Activities include:

  • 🦅 Eagle hunting demonstrations – Watch trained golden eagles in action with their handlers.

  • 🏹 Traditional skills workshops – Try your hand at archery, felt-making, or horseback riding.

  • 🥘 Local dinners and cultural shows – Many tours end with a homemade Kyrgyz meal, music, and dance in a local family’s home or yurt camp.

  • 🌿 Eco-tours – Spend a full day exploring the surrounding valleys, pastures, and lakes, guided by locals.

🧭 Tip: While you can arrange shows through your guesthouse or local CBT office, it’s best to book ahead during peak season (June–August) to ensure availability.
