A unique and easily accessible destination, popular among local photographers and travelers alike for its vivid red rock formations and scenic backdrop. Located just a short drive from Karakol, it makes for an excellent day trip or a stopover along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.

  • Coordinates: 42.3307° N, 78.2375° E (~42°19′50″ N, 78°14′23″ E)

You can easily explore the area around the main red cliffs, including the iconic “Broken Heart” rock, or continue hiking further into the gorge for 1–2 hours. The trail is well-marked, relatively flat, and known to be a very easy and accessible route for hikers of all levels.

📷 Tip: IfIf you're aiming to capture the best photos, plan to visit at sunrise. The red cliffs face east and are beautifully lit up by the morning light—ideal for golden hour photography.
