Bare Island, located in La Perouse, New South Wales, is a historic islet with a fascinating past. Originally designed as a coastal defense fort in the late 19th century, it later served as a war veterans' home and museum. The island's military history, including its strategic design and construction, reflects the evolving technologies of the time. Today, visitors can explore the well-preserved fort and tunnels on guided tours, making it a popular destination for history buffs. But don't forget to jump in the water to explore the amazing world down below! Scuba diving is very popular here to see the various marine life that lives along the fort wall. Congwong Bay (the beach next door) is another great spot to hop in the water. You can snorkel along the rocks to see all kinds of wildlife! This is one of my favorite spots to come snorkel and dive in Sydney!
