Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park is STUNNING. People often come here to enjoy activities like canoeing, kayaking, camping, or taking a tour to Spirit Island. While a lot of Jasper burned due to recent fires, it is still absolutely breathtaking and shouldn't keep you from visiting!
From the Whistlers campground in Jasper National Park, it is about an hour away. However, if you book a tour, I recommend leaving with about 30 minutes of extra time to stop and take photos and look for wildlife. I booked the 9:00AM tour to Spirit Island and saw Elk out on the riverbed.
Jasper National Park Entrance Fees: These vary, so it is best to visit their website for all options!
Camping: I prefer Whistlers Campground. You can book ahead, or there are first-come-first serve options. It's about $30 CAD per night. The showers are indoors with separate gendered bathrooms and individual showers that can get pretty hot (no cold showers here!)
Malign Lake Cruise to Spirit Island: I recommend booking a morning tour for the best weather! and conditions for photos. It is also less busy when you return to explore the shop. Expect no cell phone service here.
Food: I loved the Waffle Hut! There are sweet and savory options, plus coffee (no WiFi)
