Whistlers Campground is my preferred campground in Jasper National Park. Wapati is a good alternative and is open longer into the winter season since Whistlers closes earlier. But Whistlers has better views, more dispersed, and has better/cleaner showers and bathrooms. There is also a waterfill and dump station at Whistlers. Unfortunately, the station at Wapati burned down, so people were running a hose from the water fountain.
Camping at Whistlers Campground costs between $29 and $47 CAD per night, depending on the site type and amenities. A basic unserviced site without a fire pit is $30.50, while a site with electrical hookups and a fire pit is $47. Prices are subject to change, so check the official Parks Canada website for the most current rates before booking.
While you can reserve ahead of time, & it is recommended, there are also first-come-first serve sites available, which is what I did. During October, I got to witness the Elk hanging out around the campsites as well. I also saw the Northern Lights from my campsite in early October! It was incredible!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
You can only camp in Jasper National Park for a maximum of 14 consecutive days.
You will also have to pay for a National Park Pass for the duration of your stay on top of the campsite fee
