The sanctuary is located near Cochrane, Alberta (not directly in Banff) on 160 acres of land. You’ll need a car to visit! it’s about an hour from Banff, depending on traffic & your route. There’s parking on site.
Note: The sanctuary is open Thursday through Monday, 10am to 5pm.

Cost

Yamnuska offers a few different ways to visit:

• Sanctuary Walk (self-guided):

  • Adults: $35 CAD

  • Youth (ages 6–11): $21 CAD

• Intro Tour: A 30‑minute guided talk from a viewing platform inside a wolfdog enclosure. $49 CAD for general admission.

• Interactive Tour: A close-up, guided, 45–60 minute experience where you may even hand-feed wolfdogs (if they choose to take treats). $89 CAD per person. Minimum age is 15.

They also offer group & private tour options with discounts (for 10+ people) and special tailored experiences.
If you plan to visit more than once or want to support the sanctuary, they have an annual membership that offers perks like unlimited sanctuary walks & discounts on tours.

What to Do

• Self‑Guided Sanctuary Walk

• Wolfdog Wisdom Sessions:

  Several times a day (e.g., 11:30am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm), staff hosts short educational talks where you can learn more & ask questions.

• Intro Tour:
  Stand on a viewing platform inside an enclosure while a guide shares stories & facts about wolfdogs.

• Interactive Tour:

  Walk into a designated enclosure, hear personal stories about the wolfdogs, & possibly give them a treat
